The Junior High A Softball team got their first win of the season against Crawfordsville Wednesday night in Dover. They improved to 1-1 on the young season. After giving up one run in the top of the first, the stars offense started with a bang. Jayden Paris hit a bomb to the left field fence then blazed around the bases to score an inside the park home run. Sullie Smith would get a base hit next to keep things going. By the end of the inning, additional runs scored by Cora Reagan, Jade Hobson, Josephine McNamee, Aleena Beck, Kenzie Mikesell, and Addi Gregg would lead to a 9 run first inning. Errors would contribute to the Stars, giving up three runs in the second inning. However, they would come back with 4 runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Lexi Lenehan got things rolling with a lead off double. Paris would keep things going with a 2 RBI single scoring Beck. She and Gregg were able to advance on passed balls to round out the scoring. Amelia Stambro also saw her first A Team action. After pitching, the first two innings, Reagan would be relieved by Paris to start the third inning. In her first time on the mound this season, she came up big for her team holding the Athenian scoreless in the top of the inning. Time would expire in the bottom of the third to secure the win for the Stars. The team is showing a lot of improvement and hopes to keep the momentum going as they travel to Crawfordsville Thursday night for a rematch at 6 PM.
