Western Boone sent 10 wrestlers to the IHSAA Regional on Saturday at North Montgomery High School, closing out a strong postseason showing for the Stars with a mix of experience, resilience, and leadership. Leading the way was senior Jacob Smith at 190 pounds, who earned a third-place finish to advance to the Semi-State round. Smith opened the day with a pin over Hamilton Southeastern’s Reid Snider in the quarterfinals and continued to battle through the bracket. After a narrow semifinal loss, he responded with a 16–5 major decision in the third-place match to secure his spot at New Castle. Fellow seniors Isaiah Garland (138) and Jacob Anderson (150) also competed at the regional level, representing the program with toughness and professionalism. Both wrestlers took on challenging matchups and capped four years of dedication to Western Boone wrestling by qualifying for the state tournament series and competing on a big stage alongside the best in the region. The remaining Stars rounded out the lineup with solid efforts across multiple weight classes, gaining valuable postseason experience and continuing the program’s presence at the regional level. From underclassmen to seniors, the group showed steady growth and commitment throughout the season. Smith will continue his postseason journey at the IHSAA Semi-State on February 14 at 9:00 a.m. at New Castle High School, carrying the program forward while the contributions of this senior class leave a lasting mark on Western Boone wrestling.
