The Western Boone Lady Stars took on Tri-West Tuesday night in a hard-fought matchup that highlighted strong defensive effort and determination throughout the game. The Stars came out with intense energy on defense, using a box-and-one strategy to slow down Tri-West standout Anthony. The game plan worked early, as Western Boone held Tri-West to just 6 points in the first quarter. Despite the defensive success, the Stars trailed 6–2 after one. In the second quarter, junior guard Ally Lewis caught fire offensively, scoring 9 of her team-high 20 points. Ila Stokes continued to apply relentless pressure on Anthony, making every possession difficult. At halftime, Western Boone trailed 17–11 but remained within striking distance. The Stars came out strong in the third quarter, led by Ila Stokes, who knocked down all three of her three-point attempts. Isabella Fettig and Mady Munks each added a basket to help close the gap. By the end of the third quarter, Tri-West held a narrow 28–24 lead. Western Boone refused to back down in the fourth quarter as Lewis poured in 11 more points, doing everything she could to keep the Stars in the game. Cadence Paris stepped up defensively, doing an excellent job guarding Anthony, and added a big three-pointer on offense. Despite the strong effort, Western Boone fell to Tri-West 52–40. While the result didn’t go their way, the Lady Stars’ defense stood out as a major positive and showed the team’s grit and heart. The Lady Stars will look to bounce back Friday night when they take on Cascade.
