Western Boone Jr. - Sr. High School

The Western Boone girls wrestling team turned in a strong and determined performance at the sectional tournament held at Crawfordsville High School, competing against a deep and competitive field of 18 teams. The Stars battled through a long day of intense matches and finished ninth overall, showcasing the continued growth and depth of the program. Western Boone advanced three wrestlers to the regional tournament, each earning their spot through disciplined wrestling and perseverance. Jerzie Nelson led the way with a third-place finish in her weight class, while Jolie Lawson and Macy Williams each earned fourth-place finishes after hard-fought runs through their brackets. Additional Stars also made an impact on the day. Lexi Mitchell placed fifth, narrowly missing a regional berth, and Kirstin McCormick finished sixth, gaining valuable postseason experience against strong competition. Eryn Higer’s season came to a close at the sectional, but she wrestled well throughout the tournament, showing determination and growth despite not advancing. Overall, the Stars demonstrated grit, improvement, and competitive spirit across the lineup. The three regional qualifiers will compete next Saturday at Kokomo High School, with wrestling scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
