Western Boone turned its own gym into a day-long proving ground on December 6, throwing themselves into five straight duals and delivering some of their most intense wrestling of the season. The Stars took on Tri-West, Southmont, Greencastle, Crawfordsville, and North Montgomery in a marathon lineup that swung from roaring momentum to tough gut-checks and back again. The day opened with a statement. Against Tri-West, Western Boone came out firing; Isaiah Garland and Charlie Jones cracked the match open with early bonus points, and the upper-weight trio of Broden Wilson, Jacob Smith, and David Puckett hammered the Bruins with back-to-back-to-back falls. Jackson Jones rumbled through a heavyweight pin, and the Stars piled on late with big wins from Jackson Bloss and Tyson Riner. By the end, it felt like every time a WeBo wrestler stepped on the mat, the crowd expected fireworks and usually got them. The final score was Western Boone 55 – Tri-West 21. Southmont hit back hard in the second dual, catching the Stars on their heels with a run of early wins. But even in a tough matchup, Western Boone swung back. Wilson fought through a rugged 7-4 win at 175, Smith kept his pin streak alive, and Puckett gutted out a one-point victory. Garland closed the dual with a late fall, but Southmont’s early surge proved too much to chase down. The final score was Western Boone 18 – Southmont 51. The Stars regrouped for Greencastle and answered with one of their most balanced efforts of the day. Drew Williams sparked the turnaround with a convincing major decision at 165, Wilson kept rolling with a technical fall, and Smith and Puckett stacked two more falls. Riner lit up the gym with a 19-second pin, one of the day’s fastest finishes. Garland added another fall, and the Stars pulled away for a strong team win. The final score was Western Boone 45 – Greencastle 19. Crawfordsville set up the most dramatic dual of the day. Every weight felt like a swing match. Wilson battled to a key decision, Smith tore through a technical fall, and Puckett delivered a clutch win at 215. The Stars were still behind late, but Charlie Jones and Jacob Anderson stormed onto the mat with back-to-back pins to give the Stars a shot. They closed the gap, but the comeback fell just short in a 35-33 thriller. There was no hesitation in the final dual. Against North Montgomery, Western Boone slammed the door from the opening whistle. Drew Williams set the tone at 165, and the next four weights unleashed a run of pure dominance. Wilson, Smith, Puckett, and Jones combined for three pins and a major decision to blow the meet open. Bloss added a first-period tech fall, Garland and Jones both finished their opponents, and Anderson and Heath Williams put the final marks on a runaway victory. The Stars closed the day with their biggest win; and one of their most complete efforts. The final score was Western Boone 67 – North Montgomery 11. After five duals, five hours, and what felt like an entire highlight reel’s worth of takedowns, Western Boone showed they can grind, respond, and seize momentum when it matters. It was a long day, but one that gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about. The Stars will be back in action on Tuesday, December 9, when both the boys and girls teams travel to Cascade to dual the Cadets. Wrestling starts at 6:00pm
