The Western Boone girls wrestling team honored their senior on Tuesday night when they faced Monon Athletic Conference foe Greencastle. The Tiger Cubs pulled out the victory, but Western Boone head coach Wesley Mikesell said his team has done a good job in the opening weeks of the season. “They are doing a good job of learning and being coachable,” Mikesell said. “The things they are learning up in the wrestling room, we are seeing on the mat in matches. They are showing a lot of good things.” The Stars honored their lone senior, Kirstin McCormick before the match. Mikesell said she has been an instrumental part in growing the Western Boone girls wrestling program. ‘She’s meant a lot to our program,” Mikesell said. “She’s been involved in wrestling for a long time, but especially the last two years her leadership has been great. She is bringing in a lot of girls to the program and she set the expectations in our room.” Western Boone is back in action next Thursday at Frankfort.
