Lady Stars Battle Hard in Tough Matchup Against Rossville

The Western Boone Lady Stars hit the court Tuesday, November 11, to face off against the Rossville Hornets in a high-energy matchup that kept fans on their feet from start to finish. Rossville opened the game with the first two points, but senior guard Ila Stokes quickly answered from her favorite spot—the left baseline—with a smooth three-pointer to get the Stars rolling. Ally Lewis came out locked in, dropping six of her 25 points in the first quarter to keep Western Boone within striking distance. By the end of the quarter, the Stars trailed by just five. The second quarter turned into a defensive grind as both teams struggled to find rhythm, combining for only 15 points. At halftime, Rossville led 29–17. Coming out of the break, the Stars switched to a 3–2 zone defense to slow down the Hornets' inside game. But Rossville’s Gobbet had other plans, hitting back-to-back threes from the left corner. Still, Lewis refused to back down, continuing to attack the rim and create momentum for the Stars. Down by 20 entering the fourth, Western Boone showed no quit. Emerson Gott once again dominated the boards with eight rebounds, while Lewis stayed hot, knocking down two more threes from the top of the key to help the Stars chip away. Despite the effort, the Hornets held on for a 58–42 victory, but the Lady Stars proved their resilience and fight all the way to the final buzzer. The team will be back in action tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. as they travel to take on Monrovia High School. Come out and support your Lady Stars—they’re hungry for a bounce-back win!
