The Western Boone 7th grade football team opened their season on Monday night against the Sheridan Blackhawks. The Stars controlled the time of possession in the first half hanging on to the ball for 10 of the first 14 minutes and eventually the Stars took a 6-0 lead after a Charlie Jones touchdown. The Stars struggled to tackle the Blackhawks and ultimately fell 22-6. Charlie Jones, Noah Baird, Ty Riner, Kane Jackson all ran hard for the Stars. The line of Brooklyn Wagner, Rawley Woodrum, Ben Pemberton, Beau Sanders, and Levi Biggs opened holes for the backs. The Stars were lead defensively by Riner and Baird. The 7th Grade Stars travel to Lebanon on Tuesday to face the Tigers. The Western Boone 8th grade football team stormed out of the gates in their season opener, as they dominated the Sheridan Blackhawks and earned a 34 - 0 victory. After a solid kick return by Dane Allen to open the contest, the Stars scored on their first play from scrimmage when Jack Mallory broke a long touchdown in his Webo debut. The Stars would never look back. As demonstrated on that play, the offensive line of Sam Rausch, Mason Foster, Wyatt Smith, Mason Amich and Brayden Henson would dominate the line of scrimmage throughout the evening. Their efforts helped lead to scores from Jack Mallory (2 TDs), Layne Bull (1 TD) and Levi Adkins (1 TD, 2 Conversions). Defensively, the Stars would do much of the same. Sheridan would struggle to gain even the line of scrimmage on most of their plays throughout the night as the Stars swarmed to the ball, playing great team defense. Layne Bull's interception and return for a touchdown would be the highlight of a night that saw several big hits and physical play by the Stars. All players on the roster would get opportunities to see the field in the second half and they proved they were ready to join in on the fun and continue the strong play of the team. The Stars will look to carry this momentum to Lebanon next week as they visit their county rival.
