Western Boone COVID-19 Facility and Spectator Plan for Indoor/Outdoor Venues


Western Boone County Community Schools, along with Western Boone Athletics, has worked diligently over the past several months for the opportunity to return to school, along with the opportunity to return to education based athletics.  Western Boone Jr.-Sr. High School Athletics recently received notification last week that our plans for various athletic venues has been approved by the Boone County Health Department.  As we visit schools over the Fall season, schools will have various venue guidelines.  Please note that all schools will not operate in the same manner based on their local controls.   Contest schedules may also need to be adjusted during the course of the season.

Our goal is to create a safe environment while mitigating the spread of Covid-19 for all participants and spectators.  We ask for your patience, flexibility, cooperation and ask that you can join us in this fight to allow our student athletes the opportunity to participate.

At the top of this article, please feel free to view the attached approved venue plans in an easy to view chart, but note the following key items:

  •  If you are feeling sick, have any of the possible COVID-19 symptoms or have been in close contact with someone who has a confirmed case of COVD-19, YOU MUST STAY HOME.
  •  Anyone with an underlying medical condition should consult their health care professional before attending any school function.
  •  Social Distancing, Masks, Hand Sanitation:
    • Social distancing requirements will be in place
    • 6-foot floor designations will be present in the facilities, specifically at entrances, concessions, and restrooms
    • Masks are required at our athletic facilities
    • Opportunities for proper hand sanitation will be made available
  •  Seating capacities are limited based on venue:
    • 626 at Football Stadium
    • 410 in Main Gym
    • 250 per field at Soccer Complex
    • 140 in Aux Gym
    • Lawn chairs will be allowed and encouraged at outdoor events
  • Ticket Availability (GoFan Pre-Sale/Online, Debit/Credit Kiosks at Gate, Cash at Gate (events may vary on ticket availability).  Priority will go to parents of participants.
    • High School tickets will be $6.  Junior High tickets will be $5.
  • Team areas, sidelines, and press boxes are limited to essential personnel only.
  • WeboRDTV will live stream as many contests as possible, but watch for the opposing schools when we are on the road who are providing a similar service who may not allow WeboRDTV to stream. We will provide those links as they occur.  WeboRDTV will have a streaming pay per view game cost of $10 associated with each game this year for regular season contests.
  • Concessions will be available, but may be split for home and away teams fans depending on the facility.
  • Western Boone Jr.-Sr. High School Athletic teams will follow additional sport guidelines as determined by the Boone County Health Department, IHSAA and NFHS.
