News · Stars eager for rematch after falling to Warriors in JV and Varsity baseball

The Stars watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 8-1 loss to Danville on Tuesday. Danville took the lead on a groundout in the second inning.  Jackson Grimes was on the hill for Western Boone Stars VarsityGrimes surrendered two runs on two hits over four innings, striking out five. Elliott Young threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.  Zach CollinsEvan HineYoung, and Grimes each managed one hit to lead Western Boone Stars Varsity.

The JV team took the turf Tuesday evening and gave it everything they had.  Aggressive, scrappy baseball had us up 8 to 7 after 5 innings.  Owen Kiplinger, Carter Marcum and Hunter Brose combined for a solid pitching performance.  The stars were led in hitting by Cole Wiley, however several stepped up to get on base and score.  Carter, Luke Wirey, Drew Gott and Gavin Prickett all produced.  The JV stars ran out of steam toward the end losing 14 to 9.  We play Danville again Wednesday at 530.
