News · JH Swimmers compete in Conference meet

The junior high boys and girls swim teams competed in the Sagamore Conference meets this week. The girls took fifth place on Monday night, followed by a sixth place finish for the boys on Tuesday.  The medley relay team of Jenna Twitty, Micah Hole, Lindsey Steimel, and Lilly Maners kicked off the meet with a fourth-place finish in a time of 2:28.84.  Other top finishes for the girls included: Twitty with a fifth place in the 100-yard IM, followed by Steimel in seventh; Steimel also earned fifth place in the 50-yard butterfly; Twitty also got fourth place in the 100-yard backstroke; the 200 freestyle relay team of Abigail Scott, Steimel, Maners, and Twitty earned fifth place; and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Annalise Monsewicz, Rebecca Rustin, Scott, and Hole earned fourth place to end the girls meet. On Tuesday night, the boys medley relay team of Jacob Norman, Carver Bragg, Malachi Catterson, and Isaac Threlkeld started the meet with a sixth-place finish in a time of 2:32.70. Threlked also earned two fourth-place finishes in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles. Norman placed fifth in the 200-yard freestyle and eighth in the 100-yard backstroke. Xander Rouse earned eighth place in the 50-yard freestyle. Chase Collier took eighth place in the 100-yard freestyle. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Jonathan Rutherford, Bragg, Norman, and Threlkeld took seventh in a time of 2:14.80. Finishing out the meet and the season was the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Asher Foy, Rutherford, Collier, and Rouse taking sixth place. The junior high Star swimmers had a great end to an exciting season!
