The junior high swim teams faced Southmont in their final dual meet of the season on Thursday night. The girls defeated the Mounties 114-50; the boys had a close meet but fell to Southmont 93-77. The girls’ medley relay team of Brook Boss, Lily Talbott, Adreyan Welch, and Annalise Monsewicz kicked off the meet with a first-place finish in a time of 2:35.34. The boys’ medley relay team of Xander Rouse, Carver Bragg, Malachi Catterson, and Asher Foy earned second place with a time of 2:48.44. In the first individual race of the night, Lilly Maners, Annalise Monsewicz, and Rebecca Rustin took the top three places respectively for the 200-yard freestyle; Jacob Norman won the event for the boys as well in a time of 2:31.81. Jenna Twitty and Lindsey Steimel took first and second for the girls in the 100-yard IM. Micah Hole, Boss, and Talbott once again took the top three finishes for the girls in the 50-yard freestyle. Isaac Threlkeld took first place for the boys in the event with a time of 27.85. Steimel and Welch finished first and second respectively in the 50-yard butterfly; Catterson took second for the boys. Maners and Abigail Scott earned first and second respectively in the 100-yard freestyle. Threlkeld, Chase Collier, and Jonathan Rutherford went 1-2-3 respectively in the 100-yard freestyle. Welch and Bragg both took second place in their respective 400-yard freestyle races. In the 100-yard backstroke, the girls once again took the top three places with Twitty, Scott, and Monsewicz. Norman and Rouse took second and third for the boys in the event. Bragg earned a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:41.61. The girls team finished the meet with their two 400-yard freestyle relay teams finishing first and second; the boys also ended the exciting meet with a top finish in the relay. The Star swimmers will finish out a great season at the Sagamore Conference meet in Crawfordsville on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
