News · JH Star swimmers face off against Tigers of Lebanon

The junior high swim teams faced the Lebanon Tigersharks on Tuesday night in a challenging meet.  Both teams were outnumbered and fell to the opponent.  The medley relay team of Abigail Scott, Jenna Twitty, Lindsey Steimel, and Lilly Maners kicked off the meet with a second-place finish in a time of 2:34.80.  The boys team of Jacob Norman, Carver Bragg, Malachi Catterson, and Isaac Threlkeld also earned second place in the medley relay with a time of 2:31.12.  Annalise Monsewicz and Brook Boss took second and third place respectively in the 200-yard freestyle, the first individual event of the night.  Chase Collier earned third in the event in a time of 2:59.00.  Twitty got the first first-place finish of the night in the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:21.35; she was followed by Steimel in third place with a time of 1:26.17.  Bragg also earned a first-place finish for the boys in the IM with a time of 1:32.32.  Maners and Scott earned second and fourth place respectively in the 50-yard freestyle for the girls; Threlked and Jonathan Rutherford placed the same (2nd and 4th) for the boys.  Steimel earned second in a close 50-yard butterfly race with a time of 37.32.  Catterson earned third-place in fly for the boys in a time of 40.28.  Maners took first-place in the 100-yard freestyle for the girls in a time of 1:19.29, with the closest competitor ten seconds behind.  Collier and Asher Foy earned second and fourth place respectively for the boys in the 100-yard freestyle.  Rebecca Rustin earned second place in the 400-yard freestyle for the girls; Rutherford, Threlkeld, and Xander Rouse took second, third, and fourth place in the 400 for the boys.  The girls 200-yard freestyle relay team of Scott, Steimel, Maners, and Twitty defeated the opponents for a first place finish in a time of 2:14.94.  The boys relay team of Norman, Rouse, Threlkeld, and Bragg also took first place for the boys with a time of 2:15.00.  Twitty and Scott took second and third in backstroke for girls; Norman took second and Rouse took fourth for the boys.  Lily Talbott had an exciting second-place finish for the girls in the 100-yard breaststroke, followed closely by Maddy Sharp in third-place.  Bragg took third place in the boys’ breaststroke event with a time of 1:39.54.  In the final event of the evening, the girls relay team of Monsewicz, Sharp, Boss, and Rustin took fourth place; the boys relay team of Collier, Catterson, Rouse, and Rutherford took third to end the meet.  The junior high swimmers will face Frankfort on Wednesday night!
