Girls Varsity Basketball
The varsity girls basketball team avenged an early season loss with a W over Crawfordsville last night 44-38. Earlier this season, Crawfordsville knocked the Stars out of the Sugar Creek Classic in the first round, which the Stars remembered. The Stars added a secret weapon this time in Sophomore Emmy Roys. Emmy dominated the boards by pulling down 12 Offensive Rebounds and another 5 Defensive Rebounds for a total of 17. That dominance motivated her teammates to play hard. Emily Conyer found her rhythm scoring reaching her season high 23 points. Strong defensive efforts from Katheryn Rutherford and Gabby Lewis were also key in the Stars victory.
It was another close contest for the JV Lady Stars Tuesday night this time against the Athenians of Crawfordsville for a two quarter game. Defensive efforts on both ends kept the score low in the first quarter leaving the Stars down 5 to 6. In the second quarter Crawfordsville hit a couple of quick buckets before Webo went on a 7-0 run to finish with another win of 12 to 10. Leading scorers were Stef Dickerson and Alayna Christner with 4 apiece.
