On Saturday the varsity wrestling team traveled to Frankfort for the Sagamore Conference tournament. Despite only having enough wrestlers to fill half of a team, they managed to capture fourth place, with two individual champions and one runner-up.
At 132lbs, Mason Adams defeated Lebanon’s Carson Toole to capture 1st place and become Western Boone’s first conference champion since 2016.

Brant Pitcher finally completed his arduous trek from the 182lb weight class down to the 160lb weight class. After a day of tough wrestling, Pitcher made it to the championship match, but came up just short to Lebanon’s Kenny Getch, finishing the day with a second place ribbon.
At 145lbs, Jaden Bailey competed well and walked away with a third place ribbon.
Evan Trent and Ethan Williams both saw some of their toughest competitors of the season, but still managed to capture 4th place.
In the heavyweight division, Perrin Emberton showed much improvement and tenacity battling against the biggest people in the tournament and winning fifth place.
The team has a busy upcoming week competing against Tri-West on Tuesday before hosting a celestial showdown with the Comets of Eastern (Greentown) High School.
