News · Grapplers go 2-1 in season opener

The Western Boone Varsity Wrestling team opened their season on Saturday when they hosted dual meets with Southmont, North Montgomery, and Danville.

Webo first battled the Mounties in a gritty dual in which the Stars won four of the seven matches wrestled, including a hard fought, come-from-behind victory by Captain Jaden Bailey.  Forfeits ultimately made the difference though, and Western Boone was defeated 54-27.

Next, the Stars took on the Chargers.  Ethan Williams, Trevor Weakley, and Brant Pitcher each had dominating pins to combine with a major decision by Mason Adams resulting in a 28-21 victory for the Stars.

In the final dual of the day, five Western Boone pins paved the way for a solid 36-30 win over the Warriors.

Mason Adams, Ethan Williams, and Trevor Weakley were undefeated for the day.  Jaden Bailey, Brant Pitcher, and Perrin Emberton each won two matches.

On Thursday, the Stars will travel to Indianapolis to fight against the Scecina Crusaders.
