News · JH Cross Country teams neck and neck with Frankfort

The Western Boone Junior High cross country teams hosted conference rival Frankfort on a pleasant Monday evening.

The WeBo girls won with 15 points as Frankfort did not have a full team. In the boys race, Frankfort barely beat Western Boone, 27 and 28 respectively.

The Lady Stars almost all improved their times from last week on their home course. Charlotte Stucky was the night’s winner with a 14:39. The race for 2nd, 3rd and 4th went back and forth, with Cara Hanna showing a huge improvement at the beginning of the race, but it was Grace Maners that powered through with an excellent sprint at the end to take 2nd place in 15:02 and 3rd was Makenna Harrison in 15:09 and Hanna in 15:10 in 4th. Hanna had a personal best time by 41 seconds. Also running well was Bailey Keyes in 5th with 16:16 and Rosie Rogers with 16:27 (7th) and Janelle Gearheart with 16:40 (8th). Bethany Martin struggled and finished 10th and running well was Carli Hanna who finished 11th.

For the WeBo boys, Isaac Threlkeld had a career personal best time of 12:06 earning him a 2nd place finish. In 3rd was Luke LaGrange in 13:03 and Alex Crockett came in 4th in 14:03. Rounding out the scoring for the Stars were Brawn Puckett in 16:19 (10th place) and Xander Rouse in 17:44 (14th). Also running were Killian Deane with a 46 second personal record of 18:12 and Lincoln rose finished 18th.
The Stars race next on Saturday morning at the Miller-Rock Invite.
