The 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams were the host for the Boone County Tournament on Saturday morning. The tournament consisted of the four junior high schools in Boone County, Lebanon, Zionsville Middle, Zionsville West, and Western Boone. Both the 7th and 8th grade finished 4th in the tournament.
The 7th grade in the first game took on a very talented Zionsville West team. After getting down early in the first, the Stars were unable to match the dynamic scoring of the Eagles and lost 4-31. Leading the way for the Stars was Olivia Reagan with 2 points along with 7 rebounds, following Peri McClaskey with 2 points. The Stars also had some solid group effort on the boards with Amaya Westfield having 5 while Becca Keyes and Kaylee Parks contributing 4 each. In the second game of the day, the Stars took on Zionsville Middle. After a strong first half, the Stars went in at halftime with the lead. It was a different story in the second half with the Eagles gaining control of the game and never looked back. Falling to the Eagles 28-20. Leading the way for the Lady Stars was Olivia Reagan with 8 points followed with 15 rebounds, Amaya Westerfield grabbed 10 rebounds as well. Becca Keyes and Peri McClaskey contributed 4 points each.
The 8th grade team fell to Zionsvile West in the first game 45-11. Stefanie Dickerson led the Stars with 8 points. Ki’erra Koch and Aliegh Snow led in rebounding with 6 each.The Stars took on Lebanon in the consolation game falling 38-5. Aleigh Snow pulled down 7 rebounds, while Alayna Christner added 5. Stefanie Dickerson had 4 rebounds and 2 steals. The Stars continue to improve getting more shots per game and playing good defense.
The Stars will be back in action tonight as they travel to Speedway to take on the Sparkplugs at 5:30 PM.
