The boys basketball teams traveled to Williamsport Elementary on Saturday as they face the Seeger Patriots. The Stars look to capitalize on a good opportunity as they matchup with a sectional opponent. The JV Stars started off the night on a good note with a win over the Patriots 47-35. Due to injuries, the Stars had multiple freshmen who made strong contributions on the night. Kaden Bennington hit 3 three pointers in a row during the 3rd quarter to expand the Stars lead. The Stars were able to protect the ball and hit their free throws to seal the win. Garrett Morton scored 10 points in one half of action, Seth McClaskey scored 12, and Corbin Jones added 7.
The varsity team started off strong against the Seeger Patriots. The Stars finished the first quarter with a 25-8 advantage. Western Boone continued their trend of success in the second quarter as they won the quarter 17-5, heading into halftime with a 42-13 advantage. The final from Willamsport was Western Boone 76 – Seeger 37. The Stars had multiple players in double figures on the night. Cortez Stoudemire led the way with 27 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 steals. Spencer Wright added 14 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Connor Hole added 12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Marcus Stepp also added 11 points, 2 assists, and 3 steals.
The Stars are back in action on Thursday as they travel to Crawfordsville to take on the Athenians in their final conference game of the season. JV starts at 6:00 PM, varsity starts at 7:30 PM.
