The 7th and 8th grade girls’ basketball team made their home debut Monday night. The Stars took on the Gophers of Clinton Prairie. The 7th grade Stars came out strong to finish the first half with a 1 point lead heading into the break. However, the Gophers had a run in the fourth quarter that the Stars could not match. The Stars fell to the Gophers 15-32. Olivia Reagan led the Stars with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Peri McClaskey, Morgan Witte, Kaylee Parks, and Amaya Westerfeld added 4 respectively.
The 8th grade Stars were in a back and forth game throughout the night. The Stars battled back in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime. The Stars were unable to get the win in overtime, but made improvements in their hustle and aggressiveness. The final score was 22-29. Stefanie Dickerson led the Stars with 14 points. Alayna Christner and Aleah Snow led the Stars in rebounding with 11 and 6.
The Stars will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Clinton Central. The 7th grade will play at 6:00 PM. The 8th grade will follow.
