Friday night could not have gotten better for both the Western Boone basketball teams. The Stars traveled to Frankfort to take on the Hot Dogs in Sagamore Conference action. The girls team started off the night with a convincing win over the Hot Dogs 49-25. The Stars were all over the place with high energy as they came away with numerous rebounds throughout the night. Kara Brewer led the Stars with 15 points. Tori Wilkinson had a near double-double as she came away with 14 rebounds and 9 points.
The boys team fought hard and played together in a nail bitter against the Hot Dogs. The Stars began the game hot from the 3-point arc. Connor Hole made four 3-pointers in the second quarter alone. The Stars had their lead up to 21-6 at one point, but the Hot Dogs did not go away easily. They battled back into the game and were down by 1 with less than a minute left into the game. Spencer Wright hit 2 free throws late in the game to clinch the Stars’ 65-62 win. The Stars were led by Cortez Stoudemire with 18 points, Connor Hole with 14 points, and Spencer Wright with 13 points.
The Stars will be back in action Saturday as the girls will face North Putnam at 1:30 PM and the boys will face Hamilton Heights at 7:30 PM.
