Girls Junior Varsity Basketball, Girls Varsity Basketball · Stars fall short to North Putnam


The girls basketball teams were at home Saturday afternoon as they faced the North Putnam Cougars. With a convincing win the night before, the Stars look to close out the week on a winning note. The JV team battled back and forth with the Cougars throughout the game in an exciting contest. The Stars had the edge at the half 18-17. The Cougars came out of the break determined to win the second half, jumping out to a 34-26 lead heading into the final quarter. The momentum turned to the Stars favor as they outscored the Cougars 20-2 in the final quarter to beat North Putnam 46-36.
The varsity team looked to continue their momentum from the night before. The Stars were in control of most of the game, but were unable to finish strong as they fell to the Cougars 38-43. Hillary Reed led the Stars with 15 points and displayed great effort on the defensive end. Tori Wilkinson and Addy Bascom were a force on the boards, leading the Stars with a combined 17 rebounds.
The Stars look to bounce back as they will face the Danville Warriors on Friday. Game time starts at 6:00 PM. JV will play after the boys JV in the auxiliary gym.
