The boys JV and varsity basketball teams hosted the Hamilton Heights Huskies Saturday night. The JV team were unable to handle the pressure and athleticism of the Huskies, falling 53-30. Connor Garrity led the Stars with 8 points and Garrett Morton added 6. Some fresh faces were on the floor for the Stars as freshmen Kaden Bennington, Levi LaGrange, and Blake Miller all logged in their first JV minutes on the year. All three played well throughout the game.
The varsity team jumped out to a quick start agains the Huskies. The Stars were up 17-12 after a quarter of action. The Stars were unable to continue the quick start as they were outscored in the second quarter 20-2. The Stars could not find a way to capture the lead again, eventually falling to Hamilton Heights 67-55. The Stars were able to win the first and fourth quarters, but the deficit in the second quarter was too much for the Stars to recover. Spencer Wright led the Stars with an efficient night of 21 points on 75% shooting. Cortez Stoudemire added 18 points and Connor Hole added 9 as well.
Both teams will be back in action Friday as they both will face the Danville Warriors on Homecoming night. The JV team plays in the auxiliary gym at 6:00 PM, while the varsity team will follow the girls varsity team in the main gym.
