The jv basketball team traveled to Southmont High School Saturday morning to play in the Sugar Creek Classic. The Stars played the North Montgomery Chargers in the first round. The Stars were in a close battle which led to an overtime finish. The Stars showed a lot of fight and resiliency after being down by 8 in the fourth quarter. The Stars found a way to defeat the Chargers in overtime 52-47. John Harlos led the Stars with 18 points. Other Stars that contributed was Garrett Morton with 11 and Connor Garrity with 10. With the win, the Stars advanced to the championship game against Crawfordsville. In the championship game, the Stars eventually ran out of gas and struggled to score in the second half. The Stars lack of scoring led to a 40-31 defeat to the Athenians. Garrett Morton led the Stars with 14 points, while Seth McClaskey added 10.
The JV Stars will be back in action Thursday as they host the Frankfort Hot Dogs at 7:30 PM.
