Girls Varsity Basketball · Stars continue to make strides over the holidays

The Lady Stars basketball team were in action over the holiday break. The Lady Stars traveled to Vincennes University to participate in the Vincennes Niehaus Classic. In the first round, Western Boone faced Evansville Mater Dei. The Lady Stars fell to a tough Mater Dei team 34-41. Hillary Reed led the Stars with 18 points. With the loss, the Lady Stars faced Terre Haute South in the evening game. The Lady Stars fell to Terre Haute South in another close game of 40-49. Tori Wilkinson rebounded the ball well for the Stars. Addy Bascom led all scorers with 15 points, including 2 3-point baskets. The third and final round of the classic came on day 2 when the Lady Stars faced Jasper. The Lady Stars had their troubles against Jasper, falling 25-51. Hillary Reed shined for the Stars on both ends of the floor. Reed was named in the Vincennes Niehaus Classic All-Tournament team.
The Lady Stars will be back in action tomorrow night as they host the Fountain Central Mustangs at 7:30 PM. The Lady Stars will be excited for the season debut of Lauryn Florey as she returns after suffering a knee injury in the fall.
