Boys 7th Grade Basketball, Boys 8th Grade Basketball · Stars come up short against the Gophers

The 7th and 8th grade basketball teams were in action Tuesday. night. The 7th grade was on the road to Clinton Prairie as the 8th grade was hosting the Gophers. The 7th grade A team suffered another loss last night 41-29. Evan Allen led the team in scoring with 8 points, with Gavin Hawkins right behind with 7. Eli Mitchell, Luke Adkins, Brandon Potter and Marcus Fortner all scored. The 7th grade B team also played at Clinton Prairie in a hard fought, exciting game, defeating Prairie 26-23. Prairie led by 2 at halftime and at the end of 3rd quarter was up by 1, but the Stars fought hard and outscored them in the final period to get the win. Andrew Manthey led in scoring with 8, with Carter Landers right behind with 7. Several other Stars rounded out the scoring.
The 8th grade boys teams played at home against the Clinton Prairie Gophers. The 8th grade A team battled size, turnovers, and foul trouble tonight. The Stars fell behind early and fought back to get back in the game. The Stars made several runs but could not close the gap. A couple of the boys played with injuries tonight and refused to stay on the bench. The Stars fell to Clinton Prairie 53-33. The Stars were led by Carter Hanna with 14 points and Philip Talbott with 10. The B team also played against size and unable to get into a rhythm. The Stars dealt with injuries as well in this game. The Stars were down 3 at the half, but just could not find scoring in the second half. Clinton Prairie ran away from the Stars 24-9 was the final score. Jase Bailey led scoring with 4 points.
The Stars will be back in action Thursday as the 7th grade will host Zionsville West and the 8th grade will travel to Zionsville West. Both games will start at 5:30 PM.
