Boys 7th Grade Basketball, Boys 8th Grade Basketball · Stars split with the Sparkplugs

The 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams traveled to Speedway Thursday night to take on the Sparkplugs. The 7th grade team picked up their first win of the season. The Stars led the entire game, and despite Speedway’s comeback in the 4th quarter, the Stars hung on to win 32-30. The Stars were led in scoring by Gavin Hawkins with 10 and Luke Adkins with 9. Marcus Fortner, Eli Mitchell and Brandon Potter also scored for the Stars.

The 8th grade team started slow to start their night. They closed the gap to 15 at halftime. In the second half, the Stars battled with the Sparkplugs, going back and forth with the Sparkplugs in the third quarter. The Sparkplugs were able to pull away in the fourth quarter to capture the win. In the loss, the Stars played unselfishly and displayed great effort throughout the game. The Stars were led by Philip Talbott with 14 points, Jack Kinsel had 12, and Carter Hanna had 8. Lane Hardee had a strong effort on the glass and had 2 points.

The Stars will be back in action Monday as they travel to Rossville to take on the Hornets starting at 6:00 PM. This will be a 7th grade A game followed by the 8th grade A game.
