Two Western Boone cross country runners competed at the IHSAA Semi-State meet at the Blue River Cross Country Course in Shelbyville on Saturday. Conditions were less than ideal, with heavy rain and cold temperatures hampering nearly all runners’ performances.
Senior Colton Collier finished 83rd out of 179 runners with a time of 17:04 in the boys’ race. It was his third appearance at a semi-state meet, which was the most-ever appearances by a male runner from the school. Collier, who was conference champion earlier in the season, finishes his illustrious high school career as #3 on the school’s all-time list with his 16:15 performance at the regional meet.
In the girls’ race, Audrey Knoper was 53rd out of 180 runners with a time of 20:07. Knoper ends her sophomore season having lowered her school record three times by a total of 26 seconds; the record is now 18:41, which she ran at the regional meet.
