The high school volleyball teams opened up their season last night as they faced the Clinton Prairie Gophers. The JV team had a very impressive win, keeping the Gophers under 12 each game. Audrey Dunn led the team with the most kills followed by Kayla Aliff. Chloe Gillan had a wonderful performance passing as libero.
The varsity team showed up ready and excited to start their season, only letting Clinton Prairie score 3 points in the first set. Impressive serving from Maddie Hawkins and Marli Ransom helped the team win the first set. In the second set, Clinton Prairie stayed pretty even with the Stars until the middle of the game when the offense by Tori Wilkinson, Anna Jones, and Alyssa Wethington was too much to handle for the Gophers. The last match of the game was tight throughout the entire match and the Stars pulled away, 25-23 by Kennedy Kiger’s great kill to win the match.
The team will travel to North Putnam on Thursday for their first away match. The JV team will start the night off at 5:30 pm, with the varsity team to follow.
