The junior high softball team hosted the Southmont Mounties Wednesday night as they look to bounce back from a tough loss the night before. The A team struggled in the first inning giving up a 2 runs to start the game. The Stars answered with their own run support as Makenzie Amich hit an RBI triple, scoring Emily Conyer. The Stars tack on one more run on the inning to tie the game 2-2 as Jacelyn Wilson hit an RBI single to score Amich. Stars kept adding runs throughout the night, which led to a 9-3 victory over the Mounties. Emmy Roys had 2 hits, Lily Shubert had a triple, and Lili Jones recorded her first hit of the season. Amich was on the mound for the Stars and had 3 strikeouts on the evening.
The B team’s slow start was the deciding factor as they fell to the Mounties 12-8. The Stars displayed great effort in the 3rd inning as they scored 7 runs to shrink the deficit, but was not enough to complete the comeback. Emma McClaine started off the game with a single, followed by Sarah Keppel’s RBI triple to score McClaine. Alaina Ward reached on base with a single, with Paige Shubert scoring Ward in with her own single.
The Stars will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Danville MS to take on the Warriors starting at 6:00 pm.
