The Western Boone baseball team were in action Tuesday night as they played conference opponent, the Southmont Mounties. Tyler Brunty was on the mound for the Stars on the night. Brunty threw a complete game shutout, which led Stars to a 1-0 victory on Tuesday. The pitching was strong on both sides. Brunty struck out seven, while Reese Long sat down six. One bright spot for Southmont was a single by Tyeson Bushong in the first inning. Brunty was the winning pitcher for Stars. He lasted seven innings, allowing eight hits and zero runs while striking out seven. Long took the loss for Southmont. He surrendered one run on six hits over six innings, striking out six and walking one. Josh Benson led the Stars with two hits on three at bats and the game deciding RBI.
The Stars look to feed off this win and look to complete the sweep on Thursday when they travel to Southmont to take on the Mounties starting at 5:30 pm.
