Girls Middle School Softball · Late game heroics push Stars past Northridge


The junior high softball teams traveled to Northridge to take on the Lady Cougars. In the tightly contested A game, the Lady Stars were up and down with their bats and struggle at times in the field. Magic happened towards the end of the game in which started with Lilli Jones reaching to base safely off of a drop third strike. Stars kept the rally going with Olivia Reagan hitting a triple to score Jones. Lilly Shubert was able to score Reagan in. Makenzie Amich reached on base with a walk. Emma McClaine was the final piece to the puzzle as she was able to get an RBI in which scored Amich to win the game 4-3. Amich was on the mound for the Stars and recorded 8 strikeouts on the night.
In the B game, the Stars were in control the whole game, winning 16-3. The Stars had plenty of offense to go around as Hannah Smith recorded two singles and an RBI, Cora Deane, single, Hailey Bray, inside the park home run, Savannah Bishop, single and triple, Sarah Keppel, double and triple, and Ella Kail, single. Emma McClaine was on the mound for the Stars. She recorded 3 strikeouts on the night.
The Lady Stars will be back in action Monday when they host Brownsburg East starting at 5:00 pm.
