Boys Junior Varsity Baseball, Boys Varsity Baseball · Early Lead For University Seals Fate For Stars

Stars fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 16-6 loss to University on Monday. University took the lead on a single in the first inning.
Despite the loss, Stars did collect five hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, University had 14 hits on the way to victory.
University opened up scoring in the first inning, when Dawson Estep singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
University scored six runs in the second inning. University batters contributing to the big inning included Ben Westerkamm, Adam Oxley, and Ethan Johnson, all driving in runs in the inning.
Jacob Lange took the win for University. He lasted four innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out seven. Matt Moore threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Blake Culley took the loss for Stars. He went two innings, allowing 11 runs on seven hits and striking out three.
Adam Konz went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Stars in hits.
The Stars will be back in action tonight as they host the Crawfordsville Athenians starting at 5:30 pm.
The JV team was also in action against Clinton Prairie. The offense came but the Stars fell short to the Gophers, losing 14-13.
