Girls Middle School Swimming · Lady Star swimmers repeat as Sagamore Conference Champs


The WeBo girl’s junior high swim & dive team repeated their conference championship last night at Crawfordsville High School beating out the second place team by nearly 100 points.
The Lady Stars swimmers had an impressive 36 out of 48 best times on the night.
Both the 200 and 400 free relay teams won. The 200 free relay team consisted of Rashel Anderson, Katherine Aliff, Katie Crowley, and KaLeigh Steimel. The 400 free relay team included Steimel, Hannah Hayden, Emma Mitchell and Addie Jones.
Moving up in their seeded time and placing second was the 200 medley relay team of Anderson, Jones, Hayden, and Mitchell.
Emma Mitchell had best times in her events winning the 200 yard freestyle and placing second in the 400 yard freestyle.  Crowley placed second in the 200 free and Linzy Stow, with a personal best, placed ninth. Crowley was fifth in the 400 free followed by Aliff in sixth, both with best times.
Addie Jones had all best times in her events winning the 100 yard freestyle and placing second in the 100 yard breaststroke.  Steimel placed third in the 100 free followed by Stow in tenth with a best time. Jaci Swope was eleventh in the 100 yard breaststroke and Lilly Wilhite placed fourteenth.
Hannah Hayden had all best times on the night placing second in both the 50 yard freestyle and 50 yard butterfly. Anderson placed third in the 50 free with a best time, meeting her personal goal of breaking 30 seconds, followed in eighth by Nevaeh Gallimore, also with a best time. Aliff placed fifth in the 50 butterfly and Wilhite was seventh, both best times.
KaLeigh Steimel had a best time in the 100 yard individual medley placing third.  Also, with best times was Swope in sixth and Jenna Twitty in ninth.
Rashel Anderson had best times in her events placing second in the 100 yard backstroke and third in the 50 free. Hannah Kinsel dropped 3.5 seconds in her 100 backstroke finishing in eighth.
Our three divers all placed in the top ten. Leelah Fettig placed second, Elena Gubera finished in sixth, and Avalynn Hankins was tenth.
Other best times on the night was Veronica Pope in her 50 yard backstroke split of the 200 medley B relay. Gabby Glasson and Bella Marsh had best times in their split of the 200 yard freestyle B relay. Nevaeh Gallimore also had a best time in her split of the 400 yard freestyle B relay.
The boy’s junior high swim team will compete at their swim conference tonight at Crawfordsville High School at 5:30 pm. Come support our Stars.
