Boys Middle School Swimming, Girls Middle School Swimming · 18 eighth graders recognized as Stars sweep Mounties

The Star swim teams recognized 18 wonderful 8th graders on the team as they faced the Southmont Mounties Thursday night. Those 8th graders include, KaLeigh Steimel, Rashel Anderson, Emma Mitchell, Hannah Kinsel, Avalynn Hankins, Gabby Glasson, Brooklyn Schiery, Lilly Wilhite, Katherine Aliff, Leelah Fettig, Elena Gubera, and Manager, Lily Sallee. The 8th grade boys include Tanner Weakley, Luke Whiteley, Carson Griggs, Daniel Talbott, Zane Allen, and Thomas Haram.
Both our girl’s and boy’s teams had wins tonight against Southmont. Girls won 146-39. Boys won 87-57.
Tanner Weakley met a personal goal by breaking the school record in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.33. Weakley also placed first in the 200 yard freestyle and was part of the winning 200 yard medley and 400 yard freestyle relay teams.
The girl’s team won every event tonight! The 200 yard medley relay team placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Placing first was the team of Rashel Anderson, Addie Jones, Hannah Hayden, and Emma Mitchell. Second went to Veronica Pope, Lilly Wilhite, Katherine Aliff, and Linzy Stow. Third place was the team of Hannah Kinsel, Jaci Swope, Brooklyn Schiery, and Annabelle Mickschl.
The top three places went to WeBo again in the 200 and 400 yard freestyle. Addie Jones was first in the 200 yard freestyle followed by Katie Crowley, and Bella Marsh. Emma Mitchell won the 400 yard freestyle with a best time followed by Katie Crowley, and Katherine Aliff.
First, second, and third in the 100 yard individual medley went to Jaci Swope, Jenna Twitty, and Brooklyn Schiery – all of which were best times. Emma Mitchell won the 50 yard freestyle followed by KaLeigh Steimel in second and Nevaeh Gallimore in fourth.
Leelah Fettig won diving. Avalynn Hankins placed third. Lilly Wilhite won the 50 yard butterfly, Aliff was second, and Gallimore fourth. Steimel, Hayden, and Anderson placed 1-2-3 in the 100 yard freestyle, Steimel with a best time.
Gallimore, Anderson, Steimel, and Hayden won the 200 yard freestyle relay.  Placing second was the team of Jaci Swope, Gabby Glasson, Jenna Twitty, and Katie Crowley. Fourth place went to Annabelle Mickschl, Brooklyn Schiery, Bella Marsh, and Linzy Stow.
Anderson won the 100 yard backstroke followed by Hannah Kinsel in second and Veronica Pope in third. Swope placed first in the 100 yard breaststroke. Wilhite was third and Fettig fifth. All three breaststroke swimmers had best times.
The 400 yard freestyle relay team won with Hayden, Steimel, Mitchell, and Crowley. Placing second was Aliff, Glasson, Gallimore, and Stow. Fourth place went to Twitty, Marsh, Pope, and Kinsel.
They boy’s team scored 24 points by winning all of their relays. The medley relay won with Tanner Weakley, Luke Whiteley, Carson Griggs, and Zane Allen. The 200 freestyle relay team included Allen, Whiteley, Thomas Haram, and Daniel Talbott.  Haram, Talbott, Griggs, and Weakley won the 400 yard freestyle relay.
Griggs won the 100 yard individual medley followed by Allen in second.  Talbott won the 50 yard freestyle. Kris Smith placed fifth and Isaac Garringer sixth. Whiteley placed second in the 100 yard freestyle. Haram came in third with a personal best time.
Talbott finished first in the 400 yard freestyle. Garringer placed fifth in the 100 yard backstroke. Whiteley and Allen placed 1-2 in the 100 yard breaststroke.
Our girl’s team remains undefeated in dual meets and will travel to Crawfordsville Monday to try and repeat their Conference championship.
The boy’s team will compete in Conference on Tuesday. Both meets will begin at 5:30 pm.
