The 7th and 8th grade girls’ basketball teams hosted Northridge on Wednesday night. Both teams came away with victories on the night.
The Western Boone 7th grade girls basketball won in convincing fashion by a final score of 43-8. The Lady Stars got hot early thanks to a suffocating press defense and spot-on shooting, jumping out to an early 10-0 lead, an effort that continued as they extended their lead at halftime to 22-4. Their defensive effort managed to force 22 Lady Cougar turnovers, many of which translated to easy baskets for the Lady Stars. Of the 11 players that saw action for the Lady Stars, nine of them scored points, another huge team accomplishment. Leading the way on the evening were Stefanie Dickerson, who finished with 14 points, and Cheyenne Isenhower, with 6. Rounding out the scoring were Madison Roys, Emily Parsons, Grace Miller and Alayna Christner with 4 points apiece, Jazmine Bowling with 3, and Lillie Cripe and Ki’erra Koch with 2 points each. Miller led all rebounders with 7, while Dickerson grabbed 4 and led the defensive effort with 7 steals.
The 8th grade Lady Stars came out and dominated from start to finish defeating Northridge 46-1. Emily Conyer led the way with 14 points. Emmy Roys chipped in 10 points, while Makenzie Hieston added 9 points.
The Lady Stars will be back in action Tuesday at home against Danville starting at 5:30 pm.
