The Western Boone 7th grade girls basketball team traveled to Zionsville West Middle School on Saturday to compete in the annual Boone County Tournament. The Lady Stars’ day finished at 0-2, as they lost to the host Lady Eagles, 43-14, and finished out with a loss to the Lebanon Lady Tigers, 44-10.
In the opener, the Eagles used their athleticism and shooting accuracy to jump out to an early 15-0 lead and never looked back. The Stars struggled with turning the ball over and errant passes, and by the time their shots started to fall in the second quarter, the damage had already been done. The second game was more of the same for the Stars, as the Tigers roared out to a 28-7 halftime lead, and the Stars were unable to mount any sort of comeback.
The Lady Stars were led on the day in scoring by Cheyenne Isenhower, who scored a total of 11 points across both games, while Aliegh Snow added 5. Alayna Christner led all Star rebounders, grabbing 7 on the day, while Snow added another 5.
The 8th grade Lady Stars played Zionsville West for the first round of the Boone County Tournament. After a hard fought battle the Stars won 19-17 over the Eagles. Emmy Roys led the way with 10 points and 6 steals. Macy Woodrum had a team high 11 rebounds.
In the championship game, the Stars played Zionsville Middle School. After a slow start for Webo, the Eagles dominated and led the entire game. Eagles ended up on top 46-24. Emily Conyer had 10 points while Carlie Pennington and Katheryn Rutherford each had 5 rebounds.
The Lady Stars will be back in action tonight as they host against the Speedway Sparkplugs. Tip-off will be at 5:30 pm with the 7th grade followed with the 8th grade.
