The 7th grade boy’s basketball team ended their regular season last night with a couple of victories over Clinton Prairie. The A team broke it open in the fourth quarter to win 37-21. Cannon Brunes scored 29 points hitting 9 for 9 from the free throw line. Cannon’s other points came from rebounds and getting some great post feeds from Bryce Kopriva, Graham Cavins, and Drew Gott. Gott and Jack Kinsel also added several rebounds.
The B team was down by 4 at halftime but outscored the Gophers 16-10 in the second half to secure the win. Jackson Grimes and Carter Hanna led the team with 8 and 6 points respectively. Wyatt Barnett led the team in rebounding and Lane Hardee scored his first basket as he stole the ball and drove the length of the floor for the layup which ended up being the game winner.
The 8th grade Stars were on the road again on Thursday night as both the A and B teams came away with impressive wins. The A team started slow but ended with a 63-28 win. The B team won by a score of 41-19.
The Stars finish the season on Saturday at the Western Boone Invitational where the Stars will open up with Sheridan. The 7th grade will play at 9:00 am in the main gym. The 8th grade will follow the 7th grade in the main gym approximately 10:30 am.
