The 7th and 8th grade boy’s basketball teams were in action Thursday night as the 7th grade were the host of the Mounties, while the 8th grade traveled to Southmont.
The 7th grade team split with the Mounties. The A team started fast but let the lead slip away. The Stars were able to come from behind to win 30-28. Cannon Brunes led the scoring with 17 points. Drew Gott and Jack Kinsel played good defense grabbing several rebounds. Bryce Kopriva took two charges.
The B Team came up short 24-17. Philip Talbott led with 6 points. Wyatt Barnett played his best game and Nathan Reid played good defense. The highlight of the game was Jackson Grimes’s 3/4 court 3 pointer to end the first half.
The 8th grade team lost to Southmont on Thursday night by a score of 37-22. Turnovers under pressure led to open layups for Southmont.
The B team was able to grind out a win 42-35. They were able to execute offensively and shared the ball very well Jaxson Gott led the Stars with 15 points.
The Stars will be back in action tomorrow morning as both the 7th and 8th grade will travel to Fountain Central to take on the Mustangs. This will be a A/B type of format as the 7th grade will be in one gym, while the 8th grade will play in another. Tip-off will be at 9:00 am.
