Boys Varsity Cross Country · Blake Dukes Named First Team Academic All-State

Blake Dukes, a senior at Western Boone Jr./Sr. High School, has been named First Team Academic All-State for cross country.

Dukes was chosen from among runners throughout the state by the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches based on his academic achievements.  A cumulative, unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher and a combined SAT score of 1200 or composite ACT score of 26 or higher was required to be eligible for consideration, and Dukes amply exceeded those standards.

A 2018 Western Boone cross country team captain, Dukes has earned and maintained a position near the top of his class while participating in athletics.  He also participates in Western Boone help desk and chess club.  He has earned three varsity letters in cross country and three in track.  In cross country, he is a three-time regional qualifier, a one-time semi-state qualifier, and was also named Academic All-State Honorable Mention as a junior.  The son of Larry and Brenda Dukes, Blake plans to attend Purdue University to study Network Engineering Technology with aspirations of becoming a Network Architect.

Western Boone senior Jacob Imbus was also recognized as Academic All-State Honorable Mention.
