The junior high football teams swept Crawfordsville on Tuesday evening. Both teams won in dominating fashion with the 7th grade winning 46-6 and the 8th grade winning 47-0.
The Webo 7th grade came out of the gates on fire. After receiving the opening kickoff, a few short plays later Cannon Brunes found his way into the end zone. It was the defense that made a big difference in the win, forcing 4 turnovers. Of the 4 turnovers, Drew Gott recovered 2 fumbles, Jaice Butler recovered one, and Luke Jackson had an interception. The offense did their job and converting the good field position into points. Brunes finished his night with 4 rushing touchdowns, Gott rushed for a touchdown, and Mason Adams scored on a sweep. Jackson Grimes converted a 2 point conversion on a tipped pass.
The 8th grade team got out to a hot start as well, also scoring on their opening possession. Special teams was huge for the Stars as they recovered a fumble by Blake Miller on the ensuing kickoff. After a quick stop on defense and a Weakley blocked punt, the Stars were back in action and punched it in again for their 3rd touchdown of the 1st quarter. Trevor Weakley finished with 4 rushing touchdowns. Ethan Bayles, Ryan Taylor, and Rowen Durbin each had a rushing touchdown of their own. Defensively, the Stars were swarming all night long and forced 2 turnovers, an interception by Eli McClaine and Ethan Bayles. Jake Taylor finished 4/5 on PATs.
The Stars will finish their season next week against Frankfort with a home contest on Tuesday starting at 5:30 pm.
