A stormy Dover night was the backdrop to the Western Boone junior high cross country teams races against Clinton Central & conference rival Lebanon on Wednesday night. The girls race was ran under an ominous dark cloud, which gave way to a temperature drop and then the Lady Stars coming out on top, with Clinton Central second and Lebanon having an incomplete team. The boys race began in rain and was later stopped due to a tornado watch and thunder.
Having similar times and in a similar fashion as they did Monday night, the Lady Stars swept the top 6 places. This effort was led by Katheryn Rutherford in 13:04, followed by Emma Mitchell in second (13:58) and Hannah Haag (3rd place). Fourth place finish was by Samantha Jones, fifth place by Bailey Haag, and Emily Parsons finished sixth. Rosie Rogers had the best performance of the night, just 4 seconds away from her personal best time (15:28). Other solid runs were seen by Lilly Wilhite, Adele Crockett and Katherine Mateika.
The Stars’ next race is at Tri-West in Lizton on Thursday, September 27th at 6:00 pm, running at the Sagamore Conference meet.
