The Western Boone H.S. cross country team competed at the Riverview Health XC (Flashrock) Invitational on Saturday at Northview Church in Carmel. The Lady Stars team was 7th out of 15 complete teams with 192 points, and the Stars’ boys team was 15th out of 20 complete teams with 388 points.
In the girls’ race, Audrey Knoper ran a very strong race and finished 3rd in 20:31, just 0.01 seconds behind the 2nd-place runner. Sydney Haag also ran well, earning a personal best of 22:22 and finishing 30th. Jordan Randolph ran her best race of the year to finish 56th in 23:32. Naomi Reid earned a personal best, too, running 23:57 and finishing 68th. Jenna Mahin completed the scoring team in 76th.
In the boys’ race, Colton Collier ran 17:44 to finish 16th. Blake Dukes was next for the Stars in 66th in 19:10, followed by Caden Baird in 113th in 20:30. Jacob Parsons ran strongly to finish 139th in 21:14, which was his best time of the season. Jacob Imbus rounded out the scoring team in 149th.
The Stars’ next race will be the Sagamore Conference meet on September 29th at Danville starting at 10:00 am.
