The Western Boone H.S. cross country team performed superbly at the Tiger Cross Country Invitational at Lebanon on Thursday. The Stars achieved team victories for both the boys and girls, and Audrey Knoper and Colton Collier both won individually.
In the girls race, Knoper took the lead early and never looked back, winning by more than a minute and a half. She won in a course-record time of 20:43, which shattered the old course record by 54 seconds. Sydney Haag ran strongly in 3rd place, finishing in a personal best of 22:34. Naomi Reid also achieved a personal best of 24:12 and passed several runners throughout the race to finish in 7th. Jenna Mahin and Jordan Randolph ran well and rounded out the scoring team in 9th and 10th, respectively. Izzy Moore was 11th, Bekah Truby achieved a personal best of 26:40 in 16th place, and Krisha Griffith was 20th. The Lady Stars won with 30 points, followed closely by Lebanon with 33 points, University with 83, and Clinton Central with 93; Sheridan’s team was incomplete.
In the boys’ race, Colton Collier was victorious in a personal best time of 17:29. Blake Dukes was third, running consistently in 18:27. Timmy Coffman took 6th in 19:39, and Caden Baird was 7th in 20:03. Jacob Imbus completed the scoring team in 14th. Anthony Keppel also ran well in 15th, as did Jacob Parsons in 18th. Nik Pierce was 21st. The Stars won with 31 points, followed by Lebanon with 46 points, University with 66, and Clinton Central with 83; Sheridan’s team was incomplete.
The Stars will compete Saturday at the Riverview Health (Flashrock) Invitational in Carmel.
