The WeBo junior high football teams split wins with Tri-West on Tuesday night. The 7th grade Stars fell 24-0 and the 8th grade won 18-8.
The 7th grade got off to a slow start allowing a touchdown on the Bruins first possession, but battled tough the entire night. The Stars moved the ball on offense but were unable to punch it in the end zone. Clayton Unroe and Evan Koch were physical up front and made it tough on the Bruins. WeBo’s defense stood strong led by Cannon Brunes, but a few big plays allowed the Bruins to take the game.
The 8th grade game was knotted scoreless at the half. A few halftime adjustments gave WeBo the edge in the second half as Trevor Weakley rushed for 3 touchdowns to give the Stars the lead. Emmy Roys and Evan Crowley stepped up on the offensive line when their number was called. WeBo’s defense answered the bell all night as they did not allow the Bruins offense to get anything going. Perrin Emberton and Zayne Sturgis led the Stars on the defensive side of the ball with several big plays each.
The Stars will host the Southmont Mounties next Tuesday starting at 5:30 pm.
