Girls Junior Varsity Volleyball, Girls Varsity Volleyball · Lady Stars pull off comeback against McCutcheon

The volleyball team had a very long night traveling to McCutcheon to take on the Mavericks.  The JV started off the night with solid play and winning the first set. The Mavericks came back strong and defeated the Stars in the next 2 sets.

It was an incredible night for the varsity team as they took on a very good team Mavericks team. The Stars played well in the first 2 sets, but couldn’t finish the sets and were down 0-2. In a thrilling 3rd set, the Stars came out strong and dominated the Mavericks. The 4th set was much closer, but the team was able to stay mentally tough to close out the set. It all came down to the 5th and final set which was the teams first 5th set of the season. It was back and forth for the first 10 points until the Stars captured a run of 3 serves. With both teams exchanging late game service errors, the Stars were able to capitalize and win the match.

Katelyn Coffman finished the night with the most kills, 14.  Maddie Hawkins was very impressive totaling up 28 digs on the night. Maddie Hodgen also had one of her best matches of the season with 17 digs and 10 kills. Jordan Kiger and Holly Thompson did a fantastic job running the offense.

The Stars are back in action at home against Frankfort on Thursday starting at 6:00 pm.
