On Thursday afternoon, the Western Boone H.S. cross country team
competed at the Charger Classic at North Montgomery. With inclement
weather approaching, the Stars performed well with individual runner-up
finishes in both the boys and girls races. As a team, the boys placed
3rd, and the girls were 4th. Seeger won for the boys, and Hamilton
Heights won for the girls.
In the girls race, Audrey Knoper finished 2nd in a personal best time of
20:27. Her time moves her to #2 on the girls’ 5K all-time list. Sydney
Haag also achieved a personal best, running 22:43 and placing 13th.
Jenna Mahin was next for the girls in 24th in 23:51. Naomi Reid earned
a big personal best, improving by 40 seconds to finish in 24:25 in
31st. Izzy Moore rounded out the scoring team in 41st in a personal
best of 25:20. Bekah Truby also ran well, achieving a new personal best
In the boys race, Colton Collier led the Stars with a 2nd-place finish
in 17:58. Blake Dukes was next for the team in 7th in 18:33. Timmy
Coffman (23rd), Jacob Imbus (38th), and Anthony Keppel (39th) completed
the scoring team. Keppel’s time of 20:55 was a personal best by 11 seconds.
The Stars will compete at Lebanon on Thursday, Sept. 13th, to face the Tigers starting at 5:00 pm.
