Boys Varsity Track · Benson, Huckstep advance to State Finals

Last night, senior pole vaulter Solomon Huckstep and junior high jumper Logan Benson competed in Regionals at Lafayette Jeff High School in their quest to make the State Finals.

Benson, who finished 8th in high jump a year before, looked to make his return to the finals. Benson jumped the state standard of 6’4″ to advance to the Finals. His regional jumps was a little shorter than his sectional jump, which was 6’7″.

Solo’s quest to the State Finals came down to his final jump. The state standard is 14’4″ and if he missed his third and final jump, his career would’ve been over. The Star senior cleared the state standard and is heading to the State Finals.

Solo’s hard work and dedication this season and this past off-season made this all possible. Huckstep humbly thanks his pole vault coach, Jeremy Huckstep, Solo’s father, for pushing him and dedicated a big chunk of time to prepare Solo for this moment.

Benson and Solo prepare for the State Finals which will be held at Indiana University on June 2nd. Solo will compete at 3:00 pm. Logan will compete at 3:30 pm. Come out and support your State Finalist!
