The Western Boone varsity softball team traveled to West Lafayette to take on the Red Devils.
The Lady Stars got off to a relatively slow start scoring 2 runs in the first but then opened up the gates putting 8 and 10 runs in the second and third innings notching their 18th win on the season. The Lady Stars were led at the plate by Heather Clark and Hannah Redlin both recording 3 hits for the evening. Alayna Raby, Briley Burns, Molly Crawford, and Victoria Grimes all got in on the action by earning multiple hits in the contest. Grimes led the way in the RBI department with 6, 4 of which came on a single swing of the bat with a Grand Slam in the top of the 3rd inning. Burns had 4 RBI’s with several other Lady Stars recording multiple RBI’s for the night. Heather Clark started the on the mound going 2 innings allowing 3 runs on 3 hits striking out 1 and walking 1. Mackenzie Covington came in the third and pitched 3 scoreless innings allowing 3 hits and earning a strikeout.
The Lady Stars (10-2 in conference) will be back in action tonight as they travel to Danville to take on the Lady Warriors (11-1 in conference) in an important conference match up starting at 5:30 pm.
