Girls Junior Varsity Softball, Girls Varsity Softball · Late game heroics push Stars past Bruins


The Lady Stars capped off a sweep of Tri-West to improve their conference record to 8-2 Friday night. The Lady Stars had a slow start on offense waiting until the bottom fo the 6th inning to post their first run followed up by a bounty of 6 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning. As the 7th inning started the Stars found themselves down 3 runs but were able to put up 5 hits two of which were 3 run home runs. The first home run came from Sophomore Hillary Reed, which tied the game. The second home run came from Freshmen Hannah Redlin, which gave the Lady Stars the 7-4 victory. Other Lady Stars with multiple hits were Alayna Raby, Briley Burns, and Victoria Grimes. Heather Clark gets the win coming in midway through the 2nd inning in relief for Redlin. Clark pitched 4 and 2/3 innings, allowing 1 run and recording 1 strikeout.
The JV team also played Tri-West on Friday night and camp up short against the Bruins losing 23-3.
The Lady Stars will be back in action as they travel to Frankfort to take on the Hot Dogs starting at 5:30 pm.
